Ye’s Iconic Grammy-Nominated ‘Yeezus’ Serves as the Top Choice at Nick Cave Honor at His Funeral

Ye, aka Kanye West

, once said, “For me, money is not my definition of success. Inspiring people is a definition of success

.” And he meant every word of it. From his groundbreaking production and introspective lyrics to the themes in his songs, Ye has shaped contemporary rap music like nobody else. But his influence does not stop at just beats and bars—he has made a huge impact on people’s lives too— so much so that Australian musician Nick Cave wants Ye’s music to follow him even to the grave.

Nick Cave recently made a special request to have an iconic 2013 ‘Yeezus’ track to be played at his funeral.

Nick Cave wants to love Ye for the rest of his life

It seems Nick Cave has been deeply influenced by Ye’s sixth album, ‘Yeezus,’ which was his boldest work since ‘808s & Heartbreak.’ It marked a radical shift from Ye’s earlier material and was packed with deeply personal lyrics and a confident, unapologetic attitude, especially in tracks like ‘I Am God’. And Cave wants that very song played at his funeral, as he revealed in the latest edition of his Red Hand Files newsletter

.

This comes after Cave’s recent appearance on the BBC’s Desert Island Discs

, where he was asked to pick eight of his favorite records. Cave picked the same song from ‘Yeezus’. That is just how much the rapper’s influence resonates. And if Ye were ever asked who is on his level in terms of influence, he would probably point to his mom for shaping him. But now, that spot has been taken by his daughter, North West.

Ye recently shared how North West made him fall in love with music all over again after a long dry spell.

North West reawakened Ye’s connection to music

11-year-old North West is the spark that has reignited Ye’s passion for music. Apparently, it was her request for Ye to create beats for her that reignited his creative fire. In a touching Instagram post, Ye shared a black-and-white photo of his daughter sitting beside a keyboard in what seemed like a cozy, makeshift studio. “This little girl made me love music again

,” the ‘Donda’ rapper shared.

Ye also offered fans a glimpse into his creative sessions with a video of North West nodding along to the beat at the keyboard as he encouraged a collaborator to join in. Fans could not help but cheer

for the rising young artist and her mentor. And with their upcoming album ‘Bully’ on the way, it is clear Ye is ready to share more music that will inspire listeners everywhere.
