The Brazilian preteen, who appeared on the Netflix screens, crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday, May 2, after multiple cardiac arrests. The news comes as a shock as the entertainment capital finds itself tackling a loss so all-consuming.

Millena Brandão was a rising star from Brazil who appeared in the Netflix series Sintonia
. She was also a working model with skills that go beyond her age. According to her parents, Thays and Luiz Brandão (via G1)
, the 11-year-old struggled with severe headaches, drowsiness, loss of appetite, and leg pain since April 24. Although a clinical consultation was done, she did not receive a proper diagnosis.

“The doctor said it was dengue fever, but he didn’t do any tests,”
her mother revealed to the tabloid, saying he suggested dipyrone instead. Initially, she could walk and talk, but things worsened, and she soon could not walk. The family took her to the hospital on April 26, and she was prescribed bed rest at home. However, two days later, she fell unconscious in the bathroom and was rushed to the hospital again.
Millena Brandão’s parents recalled the horrors her child had to go through, revealing she suffered 13 cardiac arrests.

According to Thays and Luiz Brandão’s confessions to G1, when Millena Brandão fainted in the washroom, they admitted her to the hospital. But the next morning, she suffered multiple cardiac arrests. The CT scan reportedly showed a 5-centimeter protrusion in her brain. However, no neurologist was available at the site to confirm if the mass was a cyst, tumor, clot, or edema.

Brandão’s mother added that she had never suffered that before, though she had seven respiratory arrests once. Brandão’s mother shared an emotional tribute on Instagram on Saturday. “On May 2nd, we lost our little girl, but I’m sure she’s in the arms of our almighty father,”
she wrote. Though Tinseltown has struggled before with the loss of its beloved stars
, the industry will carry the memory of this heartbreak for years to come.
