It was just a handful of days ago that top celebrities
assembled at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to display their carefully
crafted, lavish rainments, dazzling like stars on the red carpet of the Met Gala. Now re-routing from New York to France, another prestigious event of the Cannes Film Festival
awaits the celebrities, not just from Hollywood but from other film industries around
the world. However, as the festival approaches on horse speed, Cannes has made
the historic decision of putting a naked dressing ban.

What is this shocking ban and how exactly is this
going to affect the stars? Learn all the details below.

Cannes Film Festival gears up for a naked free 2025 edition

The Cannes Film Festival begins on May 13, and just a
day before, they have decreed to maintain decency at the event; there will be
no nudity.
Cannes’ official charter states that

“For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red
carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.”

Also issued were other rules that voluminous
outfits, especially the ones with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of
traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre, are also not permitted.

As per the charter, the festival welcoming teams have been charged with the task
of prohibiting red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules. A
representative from the Cannes press office confirmed to The
Hollywood Reporter that certain
rules have long been in effect. But the aim for this update is
“not to
regulate attire per se but to prohibit full nudity on the carpet,”

which
also happens to be complying with the institutional framework of the festival
as well as French law.

The rule has
been brought after there have been incidents in the previous years of many celebrities
arriving in almost bare ensembles or see-through clothing.

For the
nighttime screening 7-10 PM at the Palais, the dress code includes some
other prohibitions of Tote-bags, backpacks, or large bags. Cannes is famous for its classy selection
of the best of the cinema from around the world, with
many A-grade movies expecting to get a feature

there. But lately, many famous
actresses have taken to its red carpet with close to naked dresses.

With top
actresses like Elle Fanning to supermodels like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner,
their choice of see-through dresses has created many alarming headlines and controversies in the past. The new rule has started to have an impact, with stars like Halle
Berry having already been forced to make a change in her attire of long train
reportedly. And this new rule of decency and ban on voluminous outfits is surely
going to bring a massive change.
