According to a recent report by Life & Style, citing insiders, though Millie Bobby Brown has
been “openly campaigning”
to portray Britney Spears in the forthcoming Jon M.Chu-directed biopic, “there are also a number of pop stars clamoring for this, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande.”
The project is being seen as a “career-making movie,”
and many assume Brown’s hair makeover into a bleach blonde is motivated by her aspirations.
Brown has previously articulated her dreams for the role and been vocal about her heartfelt interest. Though a Daily Mail source revealed the unlikelihood of Spears’ reciprocation, the Life & Style insiders noted contenders who stand out more than Brown. The probability seemingly could favor Grande, who just worked with the biopic director for the Oscar-nominated Wicked
. “There are a lot of heavy hitters that want this role, so the fight is definitely on,”
a source added, despite highlighting that Grande “got a huge in with John”

Jon M. Chu vouches for this female star’s involvement in the Britney Spears biopic
A lot remains under wraps about the forthcoming Britney Spears biopic. However, following the Golden Globes win for Wicked
, Jon M. Chu shared with Entertainment Tonight that Spears’ involvement is non-negotiable. “She will be very involved in this. I have ideas and things, an approach of things, but it’s very very early,”
he stated. The filmmaker also shed light on who could portray the pop icon.

According to Chu, he is aware of all the fan-castings so far. And going by tradition, he always keeps them under consideration. As a result, even if he knows who could fit like a glove for the role, he remains “open to anything.”
However, considering the A-listers’ rat-race that is ongoing for the titular character, it would not be a cakewalk for Chu to fixate on one name, especially now that Millie Bobby Brown’s star power confronts with sonic forces like Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande.
