According to Schwarzenegger, Mike White does not do anything purely for the sake of shock value
. Every nook and cranny elevates the bigger picture and favors character development. While he understands The White Lotus
pushes the envelope, it is not without reason because it throws light on the “relationship Saxon has with his little brother.

season 3 controversial intimate scene, Sam Nivola accepted there was some unease to bare it all in front of the cameras. However, not even for a minute did he or Patrick Schwarzenegger lose their trust in Mike White. This is not the only conflicting scene from The White Lotus

and Nivola understands the buzz is not exactly season 3 special.

Fully aware that The White Lotus
has at least one “shocking, crazy, intense moment in every season,”
Nivola echoed Schwarzenegger, saying, “It’s never just for the sake of being shocking, it always serves the story.”
So, even though the shock value may not be a season 3 special, it is White-special indeed because that very scene will show the direction for their on-screen brotherhood. While Nivola sees it as a “great storytelling tactic,”
it should not come as a surprise if it ultimately turns out to be the anchor carrying the story forward.
