Often, the worlds of rich socialites look fancy and fulfilled
from the outside, but on the inside are buried many secrets that, if unraveled,
could tear their prestige apart. At least this is mostly what crime dramas on the ‘Richie Rich’ have often told us through screen adaptation. And following this
guidebook of lavish houses, fancy meals, glittering soirees, and blood on
hands, is this thriller, The Reserve,
on Netflix.
The Reserve,
also known as
Secrets We Keep
, is a new Nordic crime drama series that arrived on the platform on May 15. Giving you
a break from the world of romance and comedy, this thriller promises to take
you to the intense depths of crimes of the posh. Here is everything you need to
know about the chilling true crime documentary.
The intriguing plot of The Reserve
The Reserve,
aka Secrets We Keep,
revolves around the disappearance of young Filipino au pair Ruby from one of Denmark’s
most affluent neighbourhoods, north of Copenhagen.
Involvement of the neighbor,
Cecilie, and a self-initiated investigation by her au pair, Angel, makes the
matters worse. The investigation comes with more twists and turns while
suspicions of a crime grow.
GONE GIRL.
‘Secrets We Keep’ is now streaming on Netflix!

The gripping
mystery has so much more to offer when the power structures and privileges
within the beautiful homes start to be exposed. While Cecilie is committed to unravelling
the truth, her initiative is put to the test when Ruby’s disappearance turns out
to be also connected to her own family.

After this
turn of events, Cecile is forced to confront her blind spots and question the
parenting rules in which she is raising her children in a whole new light.
A cast you will not get enough of
Starring the
fantastic cast of known faces from Netflix, it stars Marie Bach
Hansen as Cecilie, Danica Curcic, Simon Sears, Lars Ranthe, Sara Fanta Traore,
Excel Busano, Donna Levkovski as Ruby, Lukas Zuperka, and Frode Bilde Rønsholt.
Secrets We Keep started out like a regular missing person case but it gradually unraveled into a tangled web of social & sexual controversy that went right for the jugular. The show compelled you to question your own prejudice & biases as well. Deeply unsettling.#SecretsWeKeep pic.twitter.com/0PlC5qTVUh

After witnessing
the actor’s previous performances on Netflix and other platforms like Marie Bach
Hansen on The Legacy,
Henrik Prip on The Substitute,
Lizzielou
Corfixen on The Girl With the Needle
, and others, they are once again
awarded the right part in this thriller, making it a perfect fit in this
aftermath where secrets and conflicts are simmering.
Reviews speak louder for The Reserve
While The Reserve unveils secrets of the rich, the ravishing reviews it got are no secret at all. Collider quickly
compared it to this year’s two major hits, Adolescence
and The White Lotus
, and said that the series takes on the uncomfortable, timely material is very much a “blunt exploration of the
disparities between the hyper-rich and the disenfranchised”.
Today was a great day, first watched #SecretsWeKeep which left me absolutely reeling and on-edge. Here’s my #review of the #netflix series starring #MarieBachHansen.#Reservatethttps://t.co/gvReHgJU4M

The functional
use of whodunit elements was appreciated, and Collider termed The Reserve
as an
intelligent, engaging, and even darkly fun miniseries. Heaven of Horror appreciated how the series managed a deep dive into one particular world while also being objective in many ways. Though Netflix is gearing up for a hot summer with many thrillers coming on board,
there is something different about the charm of Secrets We Keep
. Maintaining the main
element of mystery like the old classics, The Reserve
could
easily be your next binge-watch.
