Taylor Swift Could Finally Bypass the Biggest Criticism About Her Private Jets—Here’s How

Tracking the private jets of celebrities has become a favored pastime for aviation enthusiasts and online sleuths, with Taylor Swift

particularly under scrutiny due to her ever-publicized life. The relentless invasion of privacy has taken its toll on stars, whether it is Elon Musk’s Gulfstream darting between tech hubs or Swift’s jet unexpectedly landing for surprise appearances. Digital flight trackers have made it effortless to monitor these figures. Yet, this unchecked era of tracking may soon be drawing to a close.

Now, finally, stars, including Taylor Swift, might have found a way to guard themselves against the mounting outrage.

New FAA legislation may protect Taylor Swift from private jet backlash

New Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations make tracking private jets of celebrities like Taylor Swift more challenging. Section 803 of the FAA Reauthorization Act, signed on May 16, 2024, has enhanced data privacy. Aircraft owners can now request to keep their registration numbers and personal details, such as names and contact information, confidential. Those with security concerns can also apply for a unique aircraft identification code, improving privacy in global air traffic tracking systems.

To track aeroplanes in international systems, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) gives a special 24-bit code. The ADS-B system, which tracks planes in real time, includes this code. The FAA is looking for input on the effects of hiding personal information for things like safety and maintenance. Private aircraft privacy may become the default setting, although owners will still be able to retrieve their data. This focus on privacy comes as Taylor Swift’s team warned a Florida college student for tracking her and other celebrities’ flights.

Taylor Swift knew exactly when to draw the line, ending the stalking that had become increasingly frequent. It was not just a random decision, but a necessary response to ongoing privacy breaches.

Taylor Swift warned action against a student who tracked her private jet movements

Taylor Swift’s team reportedly warned Jack Sweeney, a University of Central Florida student, with action for tracking her and other celebrities’ private jet flights, as reported by The Washington Post. In 2022, Sweeney caused a stir when X blocked his social media accounts, and last year, his Threads account was also reportedly suspended. Sweeney used publicly accessible FAA data to maintain accounts that track the movements of planes owned by notable figures. Swift’s attorney threatened repercussions if Sweeney did not stop his “stalking”

behavior in a cease-and-desist letter sent to him.

According to Taylor Swift’s lawyer, Jack Sweeney’s flight tracking actions caused her a great deal of emotional and physical distress as well as ongoing anxiety about her safety. The attorney underlined that Sweeney’s activities were motivated by control and pestering rather than the general welfare. Although Swift went off the radar amid

Blake Lively

and Justin Baldoni’s feud, Swift might still be adamant about not letting anyone track her. Thanks to recent legislative improvements, celebrities like Swift can now safeguard their travel information.
