Sydney Sweeney plays the character of an addict, Claire, who troubles her mother, and when she comes back to her home, brings more trouble, like her boyfriend and a local criminal, with her. According to the actress’ statement to Vanity Fair, she “had firsthand experience with it”
as she saw family members deal with addiction. Sweeney did a lot of internet research to understand the character better. For this role, she has been praised by her director, Michael Pearce, who commends her for easily delving deep into the character.
