“Sorry Patterson”- Jack Black’s Bat-Joke Has Fans Urging a Comedic Leap in DC Comics

DCU’s era of revamp was motivated by quite a few factors. But one major area of departure was marked by its focus on upending the dark gritty themes of DCEU that characterized the rollout slate for the comics for many years. Under James Gunn’s leadership, the DCU has found a new creative direction and learned to cash in on coherence and connectivity. While Gunn already vowed to inject Guardians

-style humor with his super flight, Jack Black’s hilarious Bat-joke has further fueled the fan demand for comedic essentiality within the comic book universe.

Jack Black and Jason Momoa recently appeared on Extra TV

ahead of their blockbuster, A Minecraft Movie

. As the host redirected their attention to James Gunn’s Batman, highlighting the director has yet to find his Bruce Wayne, Black could not resist putting the words in Jake Hamilton’s mouth, retorting with his characteristic wit, “You’re saying I could be the Batman?”

. The host then dramatically swooped in to cover Black’s eyes, and Black, never one to miss a beat, played perfectly along with a laugh-out-loud claim

, “Sorry Patterson, there’s a new Batman in town.”

Jack Black’s Bat–joke was a not-so-masked comic swipe on none other than Matt Reeves’ Batman, Robert Pattinson. After the side-splitting segment, the host even had him entirely convinced that he was the Dark Knight indeed. However, something persuaded Black that he was not getting the DCU call ultimately, and it was probably his comic or comedic sense. Still, Black remained amusingly optimistic and hilariously open for the heroic venture.

And after Jack Black’s hilarious hijinks, fans cannot stop pleading with the DCU custodians to help this Dark Knight suit up for the sake of extra doses of bat-wit. Although the likelihood is something that concerns both Black and the fans, the latter already marked their attendance, should the studio give air to their superhero dreams.

Many fans were building their case for Black for DCU to declare him the resident comedian of Gotham.

Meanwhile, a few were too caught up with the Gotham gags to think otherwise. Though superheroes are not typically known for their stand-up skills, DCU fans were willing to pardon the punchline because who says a savior cannot bring the laughs?
