With movies being churned out at the speed of three titles per minute, it is only natural that the quality has come to decrease as the quality increases. The abundance of streaming platforms and mirage-like opportunities for those working in creative fields, just enough to tempt, and always out of reach, has brought cinema to a junction it has never been at before. And perhaps nobody is as frustrated as Quentin Tarantino about it.
The acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, now also the go-to for film critics to cleanse their palettes after a no-brainer, has unleashed a rant about the state of cinema that one can tell he had been holding in for a while.
For Quentin Tarantino to bemoan the state of movies, when he himself is both loom and fabric of the industry, is as rich as a chef lamenting the taste of his own stew. But when the irony is spared, Tarantino’s statement at the Sundance Film Festival, as reported by Variety,
makes sense. The director who has delivered goldens feels that the “last fu—– year
” of movies was 2019, coincidentally the year where his last movie had come out.
Quentin Tarantino on the current state of movie releases:

The director, while actively working, has now taken a step back from stepping into the flesh of creating movies, as he now restricts himself to writing. Tarantino’s qualms with the movies have more to do with the way they are released and the missing factor of cinema magic than the movie itself. This becomes easier to understand when his statement about Joker: Folie À Deux
is taken into consideration.

Amidst the brouhaha surrounding the Lady Gaga starrer, Quentin Tarantino dropped a unique perspective on Joker: Folie À Deux
.
Quentin Tarantino has some strong opinions about Joker: Folie À Deux
Despite the hype surrounding the movie, and the addition of possibly two of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Nikki Glaser could not find their table at the Golden Globes, much like how the audience could not find in themselves to speak well of the movie. However, Quentin Tarantino had more than enough praise for the movie to make up for its online debauchery.
Tarantino lauded the director’s vision, the overall storyline, plot, and especially Joaquin Phoenix’s performances. He further admitted to having watched the movie in an empty theater, allowing him all the space to laugh loudly as the scenes unfolded. Quentin Tarantino’s rant on the state of movie releases aided by his previous stance on matters makes it clear that an on-point dialogue delivery is more his thing.
