While Netflix has truly tapped on bankable star power for Nonnas
, what is the story of the Netflix flick?
Plot of Nonnas on Netflix
According to Tudum’s report, Nonnas
follows Joe (Vince Vaughn), who resorts to their time-honored family recipes after the loss of his mother and grandmother.
He utilizes the money from his mom’s insurance, and with a bit of help from his friends, he launches Enoteca Maria, an old-school Italian restaurant. However, the interesting part is Enoteca Maria staffs four grandmothers or “nonnas
” from various Italian cities.
They share their traditional recipe with the neighborhood. However, Joe is not the only character in Nonnas
craving to relive the comfort of his family’s heirloom recipes. Olivia, who Joe reconnects with at an Italian market years after ghosting her at prom, and Bruno, his best friend, join the cause. Yet, in the journey for rediscovery, the four nonnas—Roberta, Antonella, Teresa, and Gia—despite being on the other side, are equally affected by the restaurant and its potential.
Though Vince Vaughn has long lamented the slimming era of comedies
