Hollywood exposure comes with its fair share of privilege and prestige, but not even the brightest stars are immune to the hard lines of policy. Behind the red carpets and flashing cameras lies a stark truth that some doors remain shut, no matter how famous the name. Despite the glittering facade of the City of Stars, the looming threat of US deportation orders has cast a long shadow over Tinseltown. In the midst of protests and public outcry, actor Diego Luna recently shone a light on the challenges confronting Latino communities.
Luna is not the first star to raise the alarm, but his words add to a growing narrative, one of frustration, fear, and solidarity.
Diego Luna brings attention to the state of Latino communities
The US deportation orders have become a source of growing unease, especially among A-listers grappling with the realities faced by immigrant communities. In a recent conversation on Jimmy Kimmel Live
, Diego Luna
and the host joked about the latest change of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and whether the Mexican communities “back home”
took it seriously. When Kimmel pointed out that there must have been more things to be taken seriously, the Narcos: Mexico
actor opened up about his fears and worries for Latino communities.

Luna shed light on the concerns surrounding deportation orders. “It’s just too sad to see what’s happening,”
he said. Although the 2024 Academy host clarified his intentions were not to lead Luna into those upsets, he acknowledged where the actor was coming from. Luna and Kimmel then broke into jests, joking about who the latter cast his vote to. While several A-listers made their stance clear against Donald Trump’s reign, Kimmel recently highlighted how the policing of comedians ultimately led to its materialization.
Yet, with Diego Luna speaking out against the deportation policy, he adds his name to the growing list of A-listers who ensured their voices were loud and heard.
Celebrities, apart from Diego Luna, who took a stand against deportation orders
Even at the height of their success, many celebrities have found themselves caught in a deeply human dilemma: how do you celebrate your platform while your people face persecution? Although stardom is a dazzling stage where anything and everything is possible, behind the red carpets and flashing lights lies a stark truth that some doors remain shut, no matter how famous the name. With the increasing concerns over the deportation orders, Diego Luna joins Selena Gomez, Ellen Pompeo, and John Legend’s chorus of outrage.

Most recently, Home Alone 2
director Chris Columbus also expressed concerns regarding a Donald Trump scene in the movie, considering he is of Italian descent. Donald Trump’s son even took shots at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,
calling them “bad apples.”
Although Luna’s voice adds weight to the unwavering tension faced by immigrant communities, it helps the banner of support expand amidst diminishing trust and ascending concerns.
