Kanye West Is Not Ye Anymore: What’s His Actual Name as of 2025?

If onscreen mischief is the mistress of Loki, then onscreen this honor belongs to Kanye West

, who officially changed his name to Ye in 2021, shocking the world. Stating personal reasons behind the request, Ye then introduced himself with an X, writing, “The being formally known as Kanye West.” I am YE.”

Now, four years after the historic event, Ye has made another significant change to his identity with his name, delivering another shock to the fandom and the world.

From now on, Ye is no longer just Ye; he is more than that. Here is what Ye will be officially known as legally.

Ye walks the legal line to enhance his name

In 1977, the rapper was born as Kanye Omari West, but then in 2021, he shortened it to just Ye. Now he is adding a similar moniker to it, revamping it to ‘Ye Ye.’

According to the legal documents acquired by Page Six,

Ye’s chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, filed under the name ‘Ye Ye’ in California. Before this, in the paperwork, the ‘Donda’ hitmaker had listed his name as ‘Ye West.’

Though for his business ventures like Yeezy Apparel and record labels, all acknowledge his new moniker under ‘manager or member name.’ However, surprisingly, there has been no official announcement by the musician who lives and breathes on X. A few days ago he addressed the matter of his X handle, which he uses with his old name, Kanye West, “I’m finally going to stop using the @kanyewest Twitter because my name is Ye,”

on June 1.

Though Ye never embraced a stage name like many of the music artists, he has been toying around with his original name in the recent past.

When Ye took the world by storm by changing his name for the first time

In 2021, when Kanye West dropped his former identity and reinvented himself as Ye, he was apparently inspired by some religious teachings. He had his eyes and mind set on Ye for a long time, and in a 2018 interview with radio host Big Boy, he shared that “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible,”

where it means “you.” So it’s “I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,”

adding, “Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.”

The inspiration, however, behind the recent name change is not known, nor is the move officially acknowledged yet by him. Though his wide fandom is much used to his creating drama on the internet

every other day, this name change has brought them an unexpected and big shocker. Now it is only the rapper who can clear the air and answer what exact name he wants his fans to call him.
