A very select few shows have witnessed commercial success like the first season of The Last of Us, the post-apocalyptic drama series based on Naughty Dog’s sensational video game. The show premiered on January 15, 2023, and has earned rave reviews across the globe. While the probe for its second installment has long found the viewers edging towards a cliffhanger, with the recent release of The Last of Us
season 2, the Internet has gone rogue, scouring for its streaming whereabouts, including Netflix.
For those curious about The Last of Us
season 2’s streaming home, here is the scoop.
Is The Last of Us season 2 available on Netflix?
The debut season of The Last of Us
was a colossal streaming hit, making the frenzy about its follow-up installment all the more sensible. However, viewers cannot stream the second season on Netflix since it is an HBO series. Spectators can catch up with the latest installment, which premiered on April 13, 2025, on Max.
Otherwise, they can watch HBO online on DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling, and Max on Prime Video.
Max at the present has three subscription plans: an ad-supported scheme for $9.99 per month, an ad-free plan for $16.99, and the ultimate ad-free plan for $20.99. Amazon Prime members can subscribe to Max starting at $9.99. The Last of Us
season 2 has seven episodes, the first of which aired on Sunday at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET on HBO and Max.
Subsequent episodes will be released weekly, on April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11, May 18, until the season finale on May 25.

While it might be some time until The Last of Us
season 2 concludes, the HBO series has already been renewed for a third installment.
The Last of Us season 3 was renewed before the season 2 premiere
Amidst the anticipation for who returns
and what drama remains in store with The Last of Us
season 2, in an interview with Variety ahead of the premiere, creator Craig Mazin revealed he felt the show has “one or two more seasons”
before the end of “Part II.”
Mazin expressed the difficulty with each episode getting bigger, explaining, “You don’t want to wait four years for a 17-episode finish, or whatever it is.”
In the wake of the renewal announcement, Mazin also shed light on the approach taken with The Last of Us
season 2. While the creators wanted to bring something that made both the viewers and themselves proud, “the end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals,”
according to Mazin. With the hype so high and the teasers through the roof, only time will reveal whether viewers are on the same boat as the cast and crew by the end of season 2.
