Chad Stahelski teases Henry Cavill’s Highlander Reboot release

In a recent exclusive interview with Collider, Highlander

reboot filmmaker Chad Stahelski revealed

a possible release window for the highly anticipated Henry Cavill project.

Stahelski was in talks with the tabloid while promoting his new documentary, Wick Is Pain

, when he confirmed that if everything works out accordingly “in the next 24 hours,”

cameras for the Highlander

remake will roll “sometime in September.”

“And in 2027 or 2028, you’ll be watching Highlander,” St

ahelski continued.

The Highlander

reboot was originally announced in 2021, with the former Last Son of Krypton, Cavill, set to headline the reimagining of the celebrated franchise. However, updates were rather scarce regarding the remake, with Stahelski’s focus on expanding the John Wick

universe. Although the project previously aimed for a filming kick-start by spring 2025

, following the latest update, fans can at least rest easy knowing it is better late than never.

As fans prepare to return to the fantastical highlands of Scotland with Chad Stahelski and Henry Cavill, what must they expect from the Highlander

reboot?

What can you expect from Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot starring Henry Cavill?

According to Chad Stahelski’s conversation with The Direct’s Russ Milheim in November 2024, the upcoming Highlander

reboot led by Henry Cavill will differ variably from the original. Instead of setting the story in the highlands of the early 1500s, the Highlander remake will take place in “beyond present-day New York and Hong Kong.”

The project would, of course, honor the original mythology.

“There’s a big opportunity for action,”

Stahelski added. He teased that Highlander’s

return is a bit of a “love story”

but not in the way one would expect. And for him, the Highlander

USP is Cavill in the lead as a “guy that’s been alive for over 500 years.”

While Stahelski believes there is plenty of scope to explore the character’s arc, only time will reveal the vision he truly has in mind.
