The royal doors of Buckingham Palace were once wielded shut, burying many secrets in its heart. But things took a dramatic turn when the younger son of the royals, Prince Harry, met his life partner, Meghan Markle. After his high-profile wedding and following separation from the house and royal duties, many ugly truths surfaced. And though Prince Harry has separated himself for the well-being of his family, next in line, Prince William, has recently made news about taking the major privilege of the titles away from his younger brother and sister-in-law.
But the big question that arises is that does Prince William really has the power to remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s HRH title when he becomes the king, or is it a myth?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the boldest step in royal history when they stripped themselves of the royal duties, funding, and patronages, but they continue to use their HRH title. Now, rumors are making the rounds that Prince William will be removing this last royal privilege once he takes the throne, as per a Daily Beast’s insider. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. On their wedding in 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were bestowed with the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by then-living Queen Elizabeth.
To remove the titles, Prince William would need legislative action through an act of Parliament. This elongated legal step has the potential to be used in the future, only if the Removal of Titles Bill is passed by the parliament. Rumors of the same being introduced in the future have circulated in the past, as it will grant the monarch or a parliamentary committee the power to remove royal titles.
Though this has been unheard of in the royal history till now, the news of Prince William’s reported intentions has been made public.

There has been no response either from England or Sussexes, but this whole storm apparently started with Meghan Markle’s recent use of the title. An insider told Daily Beast that Prince William was angered by Markle’s continuous use of the HRH title while promoting her brand.

as a royal offering. And as per the insider’s report to Daily Beast, Markle’s use of the title has reportedly pressed Prince William’s buttons and forced him to come to this decision. On the other hand, the former actress seems very attached to this title.
Meghan Markle has previously told PEOPLE that she did not recognize how meaningful that was until she had children. And now it is a proud possession of her family, she added. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
Currently, the Sussexes are unbothered by this title drama as they continue to pose happy pictures on social media. But will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be able to sustain their title, or will it become another lost luxury? Only time will tell.
