centers on Carl Morck, a once-acclaimed Edinburgh detective haunted by guilt after a traumatic incident led to the loss of his colleague and left his partner paralyzed, as he takes on a new cold case.

The show is set in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the surrounding area. This is a departure from the novel’s backdrop in Copenhagen, Denmark. According to Scott Frank, Edinburgh appears as the “perfect combination between the modern and the medieval.”
While even Matthew Goode could not help but support Frank’s decision and vision, it turns out opting for Copenhagen was beneficial in twofold since it also allowed Carl Morck to encounter new surroundings.
