A few days ago, Netflix Tudum announced the making of the Denzel Washington-starrer heist movie Here Comes the Flood

. And for his role, the ten-time Academy Awards nominee is charging $35 million, according to Puck’s latest newsletter

. The figure has come from “three familiar sources”

and is the standard fee in Washington for all the digital streaming platforms.

Apart from Netflix, Denzel Washington has another digital release in the pipeline, Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest,

a modern-day, New York-set reimagining of the Akira Kurosawa film High and Low

. This release is a collaboration between Apple TV+ and A24. The impressive fees speak volumes about the star’s power even at 70, as fans are confident his appeal, which once filled cinema theaters, will also catch him digitally as well. And for Netflix, Here Comes the Flood

is a big project.

For this upcoming movie, Netflix has brought on board Robert Pattinson and Daisy Edgar-Jones as well. Explained to be an unconventional heist movie, told in a non-linear fashion about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses, major details are currently not known, though there is speculation about the release date

. It is directed by Oscar nominee Fernando Meirelles and is written by Simon Kinberg.

Intending to sway the audience with the irresistible theme of watching strangers steal millions with style, swagger, and a perfect playlist, it is one of the anticipated projects of the streaming platform. Netflix is famous for granting some jaw-dropping star salaries, with the most famous being $30 million to Leonardo DiCaprio for Don’t Look Up.

Now, Denzel Washington, too, adds to that list with Here Comes The Flood.
