Nothing made
the die-hard Swifties more exultant when, a few years back, the music enchantress Taylor Swift
announced the re-recordings of her
previous albums. Though despite waiting for eons, there was one re-release remaining,
the hearsay of which often made the headlines, but the album remained sealed
shut in Swift’s safe vault. However,
after many overwhelming brainstorming sessions and faux pas of wrongly deducted
easter eggs and hints, Swift has finally blessed the fandom with the highly
awaited ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’. With a surprise drop of the track ‘Look What You Made Me
Do’ in the television series, The Handmaid’s Tale
, the first track from the
album, has finally arrived.
On Tuesday, Taylor Swift casually decided to shake the music and television world when Hulu’s
The Handmaid’s Tale
played the revamped version of the lead single, ‘Look
What You Made Me Do’ at the beginning of the episode. The song is played against
the backdrop of the Handmaids coming together for an uprising led by June
Osborne against the Commanders. The red cape figures walked with determination
in the dark night, with Osborne leading them. A snippet of this inclusion was
shared by the X account, Taylor Swift Updates.

The song features
the re-creations of producer Jack Antonoff’s original synths and drum beat,
amping up the bass. But what is more notable is more experienced vocals from a
grown Taylor Swift, 8 years later. According to the show’s star, Elizabeth Moss’
statement to Billboard, she wanted to use a Swift song for many years on the
show and finally found the perfect spot for a track from her in this season. As per the
actress, the pop royalty has been such an inspiration to her, and the entire cast is a fan.

The
first peek of re-vamped ‘Reputation’ has left the netizens with divided
opinions, who shared their thoughts in the comments.
Reputation (Taylor’s Version) makes its way to the TV, but are the fans ready for it?
‘Reputation (Taylor’s
Version)
’ has been a long time coming, and its television collaboration with
The
Handmaid’s Tale
is a strong statement. The show editor,
Wendy Hallam Martin, called it a perfect pairing. According to Martin’s statement to Billboard, the lyrics
and tone of the song landed “perfectly thematically, rhythmically, and
magically hit all the edit points, which sometimes happens if it’s meant to be.”
But on X, this track has created a stir where one half is stanning the new
arrival while the other remains unimpressed.

For some, it failed to bring out the same sentiment as the original one did.
it sounds terrible what did she do to it omg

Why does it sound so…. Unfinished?

Stop the Taylor’s Version we don’t want it

For now, only one track has been released; more is
expected to drop soon, whether fans who have spent long enough searching for clues
will display patience for the same now remains to be seen. In a brilliant display of power moves and gaining back the rights stolen
from under her nose, Taylor
Swift is showing the wrongdoers, who is the boss with the
upcoming re-release. But another big question that remains after the latest
response is how the fans are going to react to the rest of the album.
