Tim Walz Openly Roots Against Tesla Stock, Watches It Fall to ‘Give Me a Little Boost’ | Video

Tim Walz said Tuesday that he gets a “boost” from watching Tesla’s stock price fall as public outcry over Elon Musk’s DOGE-directed budget and job cuts affect more people.

In a video he shared to X, the former Democratic VP candidate pulled out his iPhone and told the crowd at the Wisconsin event that he was tracking Tesla’s downward plunge on the stocks app, saying, it ‘give[s] me a little boost throughout the day… 225 and dropping,” he said, pointing down as the crowd cheered.

Tesla shares have fallen more than 40% since January and Musk has personally lost $121 billion from his net worth over the past three months, according to CNN.

Musk, who owns Tesla as well as the X social media platform, responded on Wednesday that he’s glad that Walz and Kamala Harris didn’t win the election: “Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord.”

Walz added that he doesn’t blame people who own Teslas, but suggested a way for them to make themselves better about driving one: “You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla [logo] off, you know.”

Celebrities including Sheryl Crow and horror icon Elvira each posted recently about donating their own Teslas and donated the proceeds to one of the non-profits targeted by Trump: National Public Radio.

A number of attacks on Teslas and charging stations and protests at dealerships are making it even harder to unload one of the hybrid cars. Newsweek reported on Tuesday that even the resale market for Teslas is plunging.

Last week, in an effort to boost Tesla sales, President Trump took delivery of one at the White House in a photo op with Musk. He also vowed to crack down on the numerous anti-Tesla attacks.
