On a recent episode of The Drum Podcast

, Eric Liedtke, ex-Adidas president, divulged the intricacies of his Netflix documentary, Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy,

sharing the liberation of being out of the company, brought him. “It was a story of my journey,”

Liedtke said, recounting how it was an honor on his part to raise the red flags within the industry. Although he remains part of that very industry even today, his approach has been altered in more ways than one.

Liedtke now dedicates his fashion experience to replacing the “make-take-and-throwaway”

with “make-take-and-keep.”

Sure, the documentary exposes

the darkness but he believes it also shows how to capitalize on capitalism positively. Reflecting on being called the “whistleblower

” of the industry for bringing out the obvious, Liedtke maintained his distance with the term, stressing how it is only part of his experience. However, he did reveal how major industries featured in the film moved many.
