“The Office” star Oscar Nuñez will appear in the upcoming Peacock spinoff series.
Nuñez will reprise his beloved role as Oscar Martinez in the new mockumentary series, which is set in the same universe as “The Office,” an individual with knowledge told TheWrap, though additional details about the storyline involving Nuñez are being kept under wraps.
It’s unknown how heavily Nuñez will be featured in the new series, but he joins the ensemble cast alongside “About Time” star Domhnall Gleeson and “The White Lotus” Season 2 breakout Sabrina Impacciatore. Additional announced cast members includes Chelsea Frei (“Poker Face”), Melvin Gregg (“American Vandal”), Gbemisola Ikumelo (“Black Ops”), Alex Edelman (“Just For Us”), Ramona Young (“Never Have I Ever”) and Tim Key (“The Witchfinder.”)
The new series, which is likely to be titled, “The Paper,” will see the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch find their new subject in a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it, per the official logline.
Nuñez’s casting marks a reunion with “The Office” creator Greg Daniels, who has previously expressed interest in working with Nuñez again. Nuñez was always involved in the series from its onset, according to the individual.
In addition to “The Office,” Nuñez can be seen in “The Proposal,” “The Lost City,” “Baywatch,” “Lucky Hank,” “Disenchanted” and “The Long Game,” among others.
