Patrick Wilson has joined the cast of Apple TV+’s thriller series “Cape Fear” alongside Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.
The TV adaptation of the film, which is executive produced by Oscar-winning filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, will have 10 episodes in the first season.
Here’s a description of the series: “In ‘Cape Fear,’ a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison. The 10-episode series is a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century.”
The movie is a perfect fit for Wilson, as the actor has become a prominent talent in the horror genre. His most notable roles were in the “Insidious” franchise, the “Conjuring” franchise and “Lakeview Terrace.”
“Cape Fear,” which hails from Universal Content Productions (UCP), a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, is based on the novel “The Executioners.” The book went on to inspire Gregory Peck’s 1962 film adaptation of the same, as well as the 1991 remake from Scorsese.
Creator/writer/showrunner Nick Antosca will executive produce alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will EP alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017.
Wilson is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Gretchen Rush of Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren & Sloane LLP.
