A Hollywood star is many things, but resilience and perseverance are the Tinseltown tropes that can either make or break an artist. Work obligations in showbiz are never one and the same. In fact, no matter how deep a star dips his feet inside the slippery waters of the entertainment capital, comfort zones are never a given. Despite mastering the art of adaptability, Robert Kazinsky recently went candid about his struggle with anxiety attacks during the filming of Star Trek: Section 31
.
The causes could be plenty, but Kazinsky’s reasons were too shocking to overlook.
Why caused Robert Kazinsky’s panic episodes while filming Star Trek: Section 31?
In a recent conversation on the Happy Sad Confused
podcast with Josh Horowitz, Robert Kazinsky joined his Star Trek: Section 31
co-stars, Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, and Olatunde Osunsanmi. The host lobbed a cheeky question: who was the bigger whiner—Sam Richardson about his contacts or Kazinsky over his costume? Kazinsky, not a fan of the apples-to-oranges comparison, confessed having worn lenses himself. Turns out, he was not just complaining but admitting to full-blown “panic attacks”
from wearing contacts that had him bawling his eyes out.
“But I was like, it’s Star Trek, we’ll wear the lenses,”
Kazinsky finally gave in with a laugh. Although Yeoh patted both for bringing amazement to the screens, the Kazinsky jokes were far from slowing down. “Rob is not high maintenance, but he was high maintenance in this movie,”
Hardwick quipped. Kazinsky clapped back without catching a breath that although it was not his “best hours,”
it was still the “finest
.”
Although Robert Kazinsky may have encountered some forks morphed into contact lenses, the casting was actually a dream come true for him.
Robert Kazinsky and the Star Trek Dream
In a recent Zoom conversation with Forbes ahead of Star Trek: Section 31
New York premiere, Robert Kazinsky revealed his mother is a super fan of the series, calling her a “huge Trekker.”
Recalling his childhood when he was probably eight or nine years old, Kazinsky shared going to watch Star Trek: Generations
in one of the theaters in Butlins, that “forever changed”
his life. After the theater outing, Kazinsky never stopped craving more, and his mother showed him Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
, still the ultimate in his opinion.

“It has been like a cornerstone of my personality, and how I view the world,”
Kazinsky said about the franchise. Having been a lifelong Star Trek
fan, the actor knew it was a dream come true when the offer landed on his doorstep. But the passion was so abundant that Kazinsky did not even care if his character died or lived as long as he was part of it
. Although Hollywood can be unforgiving, some dreams are destined for greatness, and Tinseltown continues to be the destination for those seeking to turn their ambitions into reality.
