‘Back in Action 2’: Will There Be a Sequel to Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx’s Netflix Flick? Here’s All We Know

Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx’s Netflix action comedy, Back In Action

, delivered exactly the kind of action they had promised in the title. It was a long-awaited return for two of the biggest Hollywood stars of the ’90s and ’00s—Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz— the latter making her first film appearance since retiring from acting more than a decade ago. However, it feels like the duo is here for the long haul, as there is already talk of a potential sequel of the Netflix film.

There are plenty of clues pointing toward a second installment, especially to fill in plot holes and resolve that epic cliffhanger.

Will Back In Action get a sequel?

Back in Action

‘s story has set up the perfect groundwork for a follow-up with its ambiguous final scene. In that scene, Cameron Diaz’s character is left with the task of tracking down and recruiting her mysterious father. Even the director of the action-packed film, Seth Gordon, has hinted at the possibility of a sequel during a recent interview with RadioTimes

. When asked about what is next for the Back in Action

world, Gordon responded, “Oh yeah, I’ve got some ideas about what it could be abou

t.”

While Netflix has not confirmed a Back in Action

sequel just yet, that does not mean it is off the table. Clearly, there is potential for Emily and Matt to return for another exciting, action-packed mission. However, the fate of a sequel will likely depend on how well the movie performs with viewers on the streaming giant. But that cliffhanger is not the only reason why Back In Action

deserves a sequel.

This film also has a major plot hole that needs to be addressed in a follow-up.

Back In Action season 2 needs to solve one crucial question

Back In Action

started with a 15-year time jump, which showed that Emily and Matt have taken on civilian identities and started a family with two kids. While it is easy to assume Chuck and the CIA played a part in making this happen, Chuck later revealed he got fired because the CIA had no idea where Emily and Matt were. This made it clear that the government had lost track of them entirely.

Since Emily and Matt somehow managed to get new identities and raise children with valid IDs and social security numbers, someone in the government must have helped them. If that was not the case, Chuck and the CIA could have easily found them. So, who helped Emily and Matt change their identities after retiring is the question that Back in Action

2 needs to answer in order to make the story feel complete. Therefore, it is safe to assume that Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx could easily be ‘back in action’ at any moment.
