Ye, formerly Kanye West
, does not really like to mince words. But his baseless verbal fireworks for Kendrick Lamar have the K-Dot fandom wishing he would reconsider, especially given that his beef with the ‘GNX’ artist lacks any heavyweight ammunition. Despite switching lanes to throw shade at the Compton kingpin, following his appearance on Playboi Carti’s ‘I AM MUSIC,’ Lamar has kept his lips sealed, leaving no room for counterpunches.
Still, with Ye’s social presence continuously cashing in on Lamar-centric jabs, here are 3 reasons the ‘Vultures’ artist should rethink pushing the battle any further.
Ye is living in the Kendrick Lamar era
Whether Ye likes it or not, he belongs to Kendrick Lamar’s time. And if Lamar’s past year has schooled hip-hop on anything, it is to tread the steps carefully because he is just ‘Not Like Us’ or the rest. Drake may or may not have learned his lessons by now, but after the year Lamar has had with his chart-topping reputation and historic milestones, the ‘Vultures’ artist does not look like the chosen one to hinder his golden run.

In fact, considering the ‘luther’ rapper made every staircase a platform for his diss guns aimed at Drake, be it on the Billboard or Super Bowl stage, it should be enough of a cue for Ye to be more calculative. Furthermore, since Ye’s propensity for landing himself into hot waters with A-list celebrities shows no signs of waning, having someone like Lamar in his corner could be beneficial.
Yet, the prospects of this happening grow increasingly unlikely as Ye continues to provoke Kendrick Lamar
with his relentless stream of verbal jabs, unaware of what could be waiting for him.
Kendrick Lamar could easily become Ye’s hip-hop nightmare
Ye announced a musical renaissance after 18 months of creative hiatus but all that fans have been blessed with so far is a main course of anticipation with a petri dish of contemplation. Sure, ‘Vultures 1 & 2’ were nothing less than a divine intervention for the fans, with many of its tracks shattering records left and right. However, if ‘I AM MUSIC’ is Ye’s ammunition for the Kendrick Lamar beef, he has no clue about the cartridge count the latter has in store, just in case he decides to fire off.

Ye has not exactly maintained a clean sheet of glory in recent years. If anything, he has taken the opposite lane, with the industry turning its back on him. So, if Lamar chooses to retort, the ‘Donda’ rapper could fall flat on his face, especially because of his past and current erratic behaviors and shifting allegiances.
However, considering K-Dot has yet to answer back, and Ye is not a showbiz favorite right now, the latter should draw the end line before it is too late.

Lastly, the reason Ye should be more meticulous with the Kendrick Lamar swipes is simply because he is not at his musical best.
Kendrick Lamar and Ye are not on musical par
Ye is a legend the hip-hop universe still worships. Now, whether he is on top of his game could be very well up for a debate. While the introspective lamentations are tiring, Ye’s latest musical ventures have been criticized for his over-reliance on AI tools, making him stand opposite to creative ingenuity
. Additionally, his antisemitic X rants have also turned plenty of his followers, and stars against the rapper—a

On the flip side, Kendrick Lamar has new fans signing up for the club every minute if not every second. With a record-breaking surprise album ‘GNX,’ he already proved he is currently the king of pop culture. And his Super Bowl appearance was a clear indication for fans to dust off the hip-hop throne for the crown-bearer. Therefore, if Ye aims to surpass Lamar, his only viable platform is music; anything else only weakens his case.
